Bow Valley Chorus
since circa 2001
Bow Valley Chorus has become a vital and integral part of the Banff-Canmore cultural community. It is now proudly in its twenty fifth year of wonderful choral existence! Since its genesis, BVC under the talented direction of founder John Goulart, has performed a wide variety of classical compositions with orchestral accompaniment and professional soloists. Past productions include: Jenkins The Armed Man; Winter Missa Gaia; Mozart Requiem, Great Mass in C Minor, Vespers; Vivaldi Gloria; Haydn Lord Nelson Mass; Fauré Requiem; Rutter Requiem, Magnificat, Te Deum, Gloria, Mass of the Children and The Reluctant Dragon; Bernstein Chichester Psalms; Schubert Mass in G; Charpentier Messe de Minuit pour Noel; Ramirez Misa Criolla; Pinkham Christmas Cantata, and numerous performances of Handel’s Messiah. In 2010, BVC had the honour of singing the official Olympic Torch Relay Anthem for the torch’s arrival in both Canmore and Banff. BVC has also had the honor of performing with the award-winning trio Tenore, children’s performer Fred Penner, international opera star Measha Brueggergosman, jazz greats Holly Cole and Molly Johnson, Canadian classical guitarist Liona Boyd and The Canadian Brass.
