A Tribute To Hans Stamer (1938-2024)

Hans Stamer (1938-2024), was one of the guiding lights who, via Hamburg, brought the Blues to Canada.

Hans had a varied career and was featured vocalist with The Famous Last Words, The Backstreet Dudes, Django, The R+B Allstars, and many more. He is best known for his recording, 'Dig a Hole' which he recorded with, the now legendary, Hans Staymer Band in 1972.

From 1996, Hans was one half of the incredible blues-duo, Schuld & Stamer. Schuld & Stamer made three albums together, 'No Special Rider' (w. Bill Bourne), 'You got the bread...we got the jam!' (w. Long John Baldry & Chris Nordquist), and 'Kuddelmuddel.'

In 2009, Hans recorded his seminal solo Jazz album, 'Everything Happens To Me.'

Hans Stamer should be a familiar name to Baldry fans as he features on two-major Baldry solo-projects; 'Remembering Leadbelly,' Baldry's tribute to the great Leadbelly, who was also a huge influence on Hans, and the TV-special, 'Happy Birthday Blues: Long John Baldry & Friends,' a televised concert to celebrate LJB's 60th!
