Event Description
For nearly five decades, the Canmore Folk Music Festival has been more than just an event — it is a gathering place for people to meet, connect and celebrate their love for music and the people who come back year after year.
This new documentary explores the story behind the festival. Through interviews with organizers, artists, volunteers, and community leaders, the film traces the history of the festival and the spirit that continues to make it one of Canada’s most beloved folk events.
From the iconic Stan Rogers Stage to the countless moments shared between performers and audiences, this is a story about passion, participation, and the power of music to bring people together.
Join us for the special premiere screening of this documentary celebrating the legacy of the Canmore Folk Music Festival and the community that keeps the music playing. Produced by Rocky Mountain Live founder Jimmy Stevens. We will also hear special musical performances by Mike Petroff, Timmy Mann (of The Ducks), Caroline Whyte & The Three Sisters.
This premiere event is also a fundraiser for Rocky Mountain Live, an independent community media platform dedicated to promoting live music across the Canadian Rockies.
More than 2,000 hours of volunteer work have gone into supporting local musicians, venues and businesses that make our mountain music scene possible. Proceeds from this event will help Rocky Mountain Live continue showcasing live music and creating content like this documentary that spotlights and supports the people & places who make live music special in our region.
Tickets are only $10, but if you'd like to see Rocky Mountain Live continue to operate and create more content to spotlight local musicians, venues and businesses, any additional donation is a MASSIVE help in allowing us to do that.
