Event Description
The Coda presents the psych folk/rock stylings of Victoria songwriters Gabe Elias and
Evan Cheadle accompanied by Everett, WA band Shoecraft.
Gabe Elias is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Toronto, now based in Victoria,
BC. Recording in basements and bedrooms across the city, he crafted his debut folk-rock LP
'Many Long Goodbyes' with the help of friends and a deep love for the DIY ethos. Gabe's music is both sweet and gritty, drifting between bitterness and joy, exploring longing, change, and connection. Catch him solo or with his band The Many Moons.
Likewise, Victoria-based indie-folk songwriter Evan Cheadle has a knack for channeling
this very feeling into his music in a unique and powerful way. His beautiful folk melodies strum and hum with an aesthetic that harkens back to simpler times while creating something refreshingly new in the process. A student of the pure analog production sounds of the 60s and 70s, his music reverberates through to the now with a modern day sound.Since their first iteration in 2013,
Shoecraft has drawn on the luminaries of their tradition such as Karen and Don Peris (The Innocence Mission), Sufjan Stevens and Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra, Bad Books, Right Way Great Captain) to stitch together their own
distinct flavor of singer-songwriter music. Since 2016, they have released 7 full-length albums of varying styles and configurations, accumulating millions of streams, BBC placements and have documented a decade of collaborating, recording and performing with PNW mainstays such as Karl Blau and Damien Jurado.
