Event Description

An event where you can help give back to your community all while enjoying good food and drinks, great music, a cozy environment, connecting with other good people is happening soon!

At this event we’d have drinks, some Christmas themed decor, good music and a fun and comfortable environment where we all assemble packs containing essential items that I’ll distribute on or around Christmas Eve! 100 packs are already made and the goal is to make 100 more. I’ll also have Christmas cards ready so that you can write a message that hopefully will inspire hope to someone in need. Everyone needs hope and needs to be told that they matter. I’ll give out your card with a pack that you make on Christmas Eve!

Please e-transfer your $20 attendance fee to [email protected]. 100% of your donation/attendance free will go towards purchasing items to go into the packs! We don’t have any paid employees and Emporia is generously hosting this event for free.

Read on for details about the non profit that I own:

The Care Pack Project is a registered non profit in which I and community members go around downtown Victoria (and surrounding areas) handing out "Care Packs" and essential items to Victoria's homeless. 2025 will mark year 11 of the project happening which I'm super excited about! So far the biggest handout happens on or around Christmas day because it's cold, it's dark, and it's an extra hard time of year for many, however, as my non profit grows I hope to do more handouts of packs yearly and/or on a bigger scale. I usually make and distribute 100 packs at Christmas but I have made up to 150. Alongside this I do handouts of essential items as donations come in and items are purchased (think socks, toques, ponchos, handwarmers- basically anything that’s needed regularly).

In the packs I try to always include essential items. Examples of what I've included in past years are: a few pairs of handwarmers, a toothbrush, a toothpaste, clean socks, some food, ponchos, emergency blankets, sanitizing wipes, tampons/pads, hats, gloves, sleeping bags, jackets, scarves, dog treats, and some other necessities when donations make it possible. I also include a handwritten card in every pack.

2025 will be the 11th year that I successfully organize and execute this project and the plan is to make 100 or more packs (as we usually do).

Unfortunately, Facebook deleted its personal fundraiser feature and therefore has also deleted the years of history on Facebook of this project but you can search "the Care Pack Project foundation" on Facebook for updates on this project. I created that page just a few years ago and am posting what I can find from previous years to create history and as much transparency as possible.

I always try to find new ways to help and have found that making people feel like they too are contributing to something and are needed is essential. In the last few years I added note papers that say "I'm thankful for" and I carry around a pen so that the recipient's of these Care Packs can jot down their thoughts. In 2025, I upgraded to wood Christmas ornaments. Let’s see how they work!

The cost of this event will go towards the items that will be purchased to be included in the packs and thus a $20 fee will be required. If you are able to donate more it is very appreciated! E-transfers can be sent to [email protected]. Once I have your donation and attendance fee I will count you as having RSVPd. The sooner I get donations the sooner I can order items, so the sooner the better. All funds raised go directly to essential items that will be distributed to our unhoused family.
