Bach ~ Cantata # 12:
The full VPC choir is joined by alto, tenor and bass soloists and 26 piece chamber orchestra to perform JS Bach’s little-played choral motet – another rare find that will delight choral audiences.
Handel ~ Dettingen Te Deum:
Reminiscent of Handel’s masterpiece, The Messiah, the Te Deum is a rousing, rhythmic expression of thanksgiving set to music by an old master. It was written in 1743 to celebrate the British defeat of the French army in Dettingen when Handel was the court-appointed composer to the English King George II. The work is comprised of 18 choruses and solos, trumpet fanfares and military drums, together creating a jubilant and brilliant martial flavour, full of majesty and rich harmonies.
