Event Description
Mark "Westcoast" Comerford plays guitar, percussion, and lends his vocals, while Big Hank Lionhart takes on lead vocals. Both are key members of RCA recording artists Uncle Wiggly's Hot Shoes Blues Band, a group that has been thrilling audiences across Western Canada since their reunion.
With over 40 years of collaboration and experience in the Blues scene, Mark and Hank have shared the stage with legendary artists like Muddy Waters and Joe Cocker, and more recently, they opened for Burton Cummings. Their talent was showcased in 2016 when they represented British Columbia in the Solo/Duo category at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, where they made it to the semi-finals. Following this achievement, they released their debut album, "Pumpin' Out The Blues," and have performed at prominent events across BC and Alberta, including the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival, Island Folk Festival, and 39 Days of July, along with venues like Blue Frog Studios in White Rock and Hermann’s Jazz Club in Victoria. In January 2019, they once again represented BC at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
Their second CD, “Two Way Street,” features a mix of live recordings and studio cuts. Joining them is the newest member, Mick Woodhouse on bass. A seasoned musician from the Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver music scenes since the 1960s, Mick brings a wealth of experience and energy to the band with his stand-up bass, not to mention his impressive harmony singing that enriches their sound. Rounding out the group is Dave Emery on percussion, who carries a wealth of experience as one of Victoria’s top jazz and blues drummers.
