The Doggone Brothers Band will be releasing their new album, Hard Luck Livin' and will be kicking off a release tour by playing the Golden Legion.

The Doggone Brothers Band is still grinning ear to ear after a wonderful summer of festivals and shows. The band is anticipating their first full-length album as a 4-piece, Hard Luck Livin’, which is scheduled for full release in April 2025. The 12-track album includes 11 road-tested originals and one traditional tune—currently getting mixed and mastered by legendary sound engineer David Travers Smith. If you’re looking for a folk-centric grass-adjacent band for your festival or summer event, the Doggone Brothers Band would be a great fit!

Authentic and uplifting—this four-piece band feels grassy at a folk-fest, and folky at a grass-fest. Their sound is something in between: a nod to traditional instrumentation but an eye towards the future of acoustic music. Some bonafide Canadian Americana. The Doggone Brothers Band will tickle your ears with tasty licks, warm your heart with soulful songs, and give you a laugh along the way with their cheeky banter.

In 2024 the band elevated their game with some highlight shows at Canmore Folk Fest where they hosted a workshop stage with the legendary John Reischman & the Jaybirds, lead an old-time dance with award-winning polymath Jake Blount. They also delivered crowd-favourite sets at Shady Grove Bluegrass Festival (Sundae, AB) and Bluegrass at the Barn (Saskatoon & Regina, SK) Past seasons saw them travel across western Canada to festivals like Cowichan Valley Bluegrass Festival (Vancouver Island, BC), SoulFest (Twin Butte, AB), Blue Heron Music Fest (Revelstoke, BC), Waynestock (Wayne, AB), and BlizzardFest (Rossland, BC)… carrying on momentum from 2022 at Tiny Lights (Ymir, BC), Northern Lights Bluegrass & Old-Time Festival (Ness Creek, SK), Peak Music Fest (Cranbrook, BC), Shady Grove Bluegrass Festival (Sundre, AB. 2021). Dotted amongst those events were headlining performances at some of Western Canada’s prime acoustic music venues like The Heatley (East Vancouver), The Ironwood (Calgary, BC), The Owl (Lethbridge, AB), The Duncan Showroom (Duncan, BC.) the Foothills Bluegrass Music Club (Calgary, AB) and The Northern Bluegrass Circle (Edmonton, AB).

This Kootenay-based band is Clayton Parsons (The Good ‘Ol Goats, The Parsons) on banjo, guitar and dobro, and Michael Hepher (Craig Young Band, RedGirl, As The Crow Flies) on mandolin, octave mandolin, and guitar. Rounding out the sound is Leah Gardner (fiddle), and Rhonda Shippy (upright bass).
