HEJIRA - With an array of eclectic original songs featuring richly layered and intricate arrangements, Hejira's self-titled debut is sonically rich, supported by well-crafted melodies and arrangements. The CD combines dissonant moments driven by angular guitars with more spacious and atmospheric songs. HINTERLAND has been carving its own niche in the musical landscape with ambient drones giving way to cascading walls of star-gazing guitar rock, all topped with heavenly vocals. Hinterland’s atmospheric sound is based in rock ’n’ roll, but the quintet’s shimmering sound is made unique by the inclusion of a few decidedly non-standard elements including flute, oboe and baritone guitar.
