Event Description
Robert Amos has spent his life painting Victoria. In addition, he has become the art historian of our city and has created a considerable archive of paintings by other artists which show Victoria over the years. Beginning with photographs of Fort Victoria (1852) he will introduce us to colonist Sarah Crease, gold seeker W. G. R. Hind and railway artist Frederick Bell-Smith . We will tour the shoreline with Emily Carr and share the picturesque vision of Walter J. Phillips which soon gives way to the modernism of Jack Shadbolt and Herbert Siebner. Join with us for a lavishly-illustrated presentation of Victoria Through Artists’ Eyes.
