Our brewmaster Tom Schmidt, has decided to retire. We are not about to let Tom move on to the next chapter of his life without throwing him a party to celebrate and thank him for his immense contribution to our brewery's growth and success. He joined a then-start-up contract brewery, Spearhead, back in 2011 and has been the mastermind behind many of Spearhead’s multiple award-winning beers, including our flagship, Hawaiian Style Pale Ale.
To celebrate Tom's achievements and bid him a memorable farewell, we are throwing a retirement party for him. Please join us Saturday, April 1st, from 2 PM to 5 PM featuring the amazing blues band Hellhound Trail.
This is an opportunity for all of us to come together to celebrate Tom's dedication, hard work, and most of all his friendship. Tom has always made a point of giving back to his community and we honour that legacy by collecting donations for Tom’s favourite charity the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) during the party.
Throughout all his years in the brewing industry, Tom never lost sight of the most important thing, his family. He and his wife Lynn raised two amazing children, Jacob and Alexa. Tomas Schmidt’s legacy will continue. His daughter Alexa is helping bring Spearhead beer to Western Ontario as one of our territory managers and his son Jacob followed in his father’s footsteps, starting as a brew hand at Spearhead and Toboggan working his way up to run the day-to-day brewing operations at Spearhead as the Head Brewer and now we are thrilled to announce Jacob will be the new Brewmaster for Spearhead.
