Event Description
Victoria BC Ska Society & Pacific Dubstep proudly present Dubsteppas' Delight. This event will be a journey through a variety of sounds that showcase the ever-evolving sound of dub reggae music. Dubsteppas' Delight is a crossover between traditional dub sound-system culture and the new progressive sounds of dubstep. While delivering a diverse range of music, this event stays firmly aimed at keeping your feet moving to sweet bass driven sounds. We are proud to present a talented group of artists ready to do just that:
RSD/Rob Smith:
From the legendary Bristol dub act Smith & Mighty and drum & bass outfit More Rockers, Bristol bass and drum music stalwart Rob Smith has been pushing bass heavy rhythms for more than two decades.Under the moniker RSD, Rob Smith produces fresh, innovative bass music that simultaneously pays dues to his deep soundsystem roots while pushing things ever forward. He remains firmly at the forefront of Bristol's endlessly inventive music scene.
dUbTeT:
dUbTeT is a multi-instrumentalist dub duo from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Their sound is global dub with live instruments, live looping, and live dubbing. Unique and original, dUbTeT is a hybrid ofacoustic and electronic, reggae and samba, dance and meditation. A dUbTeT show is a sound system experience, inspired by Jamaican sound system culture.
Big Reds:
Big Reds is GOBE, FRAME, and RHYTHMICON - Victoria’s three-man dubstep wrecking crew. The fella's behind PACIFIC DUBSTEP, laying the dubstep foundation down in a big way for the victoria massive. Collectively, they blend the irie dub roots, two step and techno depth of dubstep together seamlessly. For this night, they're warming the place up proper straight before dUbTeT.
MC Natureboy:
Nature has been residing in the bass-lines for a long time. With the influences of CHARLEY CHAPLIN, JOSEY WALES, and BRIGADEER JERRY. Lurking within the DrumLine Natureboy injects a conscious lyrical fantastique to make the dance floor a more intimate space.
