Aly can’t help but sing about the mountains near her home in rural Southern Alberta.
Her music celebrates the history and landscape of her home in near the Rocky Mountains and the experiences of women in these places.
Her vocals- pure with a hint of Irish lament- are complimented by intricate and rhythmic guitar that transports you to the mountains that her songs are inspired by.
An early introduction to the mountains and guitar from her parents set the stage for her musical career. When she is not singing she loves trail running, hunting, climbing and paddling. She holds records in running and cannoeing. She was singing the entire time. These experiences, as well as a deep inspiration from the women who broke trail before her, inspire her folky music.
